April 22,2012

April 22, 2012. Day 7 Ura Valley Excursion.
Drive to the Ura Valley, along the way at 2500M the rhododendrons are blooming but here they are just starting, also a shrub that has very pretty yellow flowers and is call a Cats Claw . The forest is mainly pine and at higher elevations Silver Fir. Urn has a beautiful Buddhist Monastery surrounded by typical Bhutanese farm houses, is very unique . Walked down from the road to the village through farm fields, 30minute walk to the village but you do get to see the village life this way. There is a large school here up to year 9. At the 17th century Buddhist temple here there are very beautiful paintings, also have seen the dancers practicing for a upcoming religious festival. The hotel has packed a lunch so have sat on the hillside over looking the valley and the village to eat. On the way back to Bumthrang stopped at the Burning River a very sacred place for the Buddhist, where the Treasurer Discoverer discovered some of the treasures
