Day
02: Paro Valley
Take
4 hours out and back, Takstang Monastery Hike, a holy pilgrimage site
with spectacular views. On return, visit the ruins of Drugyal Dzong.
April
17, 2010.
Had
breakfast and was off at 8:30 to the Tigers's nest ( Takstang
Monastery ) It is a 1 hour
walk all up hill from the car park to the tea house and then after
tea another 1 hour hike to the final view point. Arrived at the
final view point at 11:30 , but did not do the final 750 stairs up
to the monastery, being smart this time so will be able to continue
to walk tomorrow. Knee still a bit sore from the Annapurna hike, but
as long as I just walk it will be fine. The walk back down was
really great, had lunch at the tea house and then continued down the
mountain to the car park. One climes up 900M to a height of 3180M,
on the way there are lots of Rhododendrons and other flowers.
Then
it was off to the ruins of the Drugyal Dzong which was destroyed by
fire. They are in the process of completely rebuilding it and the it
will be a museum. By this time it was 3:30 and it was time to retire
to the hotel have a cup of tea and write up my blog and travel diary.
Bhutan is a beautiful country.
