Have booked a whole day trip tomorrow
to the Phi Phi Islands. Going to Maya Bay, Monkey Bay, Lohsamah Bay,
Pileh Bay, Viking Cave, Phi Phi Don, Hin Klarng and Bamboo Island.
This part of Thailand is very scenic,
the area that is Railay Beach East and West is a rocky peninsula that
is part of Krabi and is known for rock climbing and white beaches.
There is also snorkeling and diving but one must go out of the local
area as the water is not to clear near to shore, so most people head
out to the Phi Phi Islands where there is coral reefs and clearer
water.
The resort here is nice but does need a
bit of updating and a new coat of paint. The beaches are not a clean
as those on the Island of Koh Tao where they are very eco conscious.
As you walk along the beach on East Railay Bay you see garbage in the
trees that are along the beach and although they sweep the walks in
the resort once you are off West Railay Beach you also see paper and
other stuff that the tourist have thrown away on the beach walk
also.
If they do not start to clean up and
make this a eco friendly green resort it will not be a very nice
place in a few years.
The Railay Bay Resort and Spa is a five
star property but the service is not that good, the staff are not as
helpful as they could be and tend to be a bit slow to get things
done.
The other services at the resort are
fairly good, but they service a large demographic and do speak a
number of languages but do not seen to speak English all that well.
The Chokpaisan – Phi Phi Islands tour
was very good, visited one beautiful island after another and the
trip out was very good, large speed boat with only a small number of
guests, some other tours tend to pack quite a few persons into one
boat. First stop was Bamboo Island and we went ashore for 45
minutes to explore, then off to the Viking Cave where the locals go
and get birds nests for birds nest soup, then on to Phi Phi Don
Island for lunch. Very touristy here with hundreds of people and a
large number of boats in the harbor. After lunch on to Pileh Bay,
Maya Bay and to Loksamah Bay to feed the fish. This place is very
interesting , just like your own aquarium with hundreds of fish of
different colors just there for you to enjoy seeing. After this we
went to another bay so that you could snorkel and that was the whole
day. Back to the resort at 4:30 PM.
March 25, 2012.
Just spending the day in, have to do
laundry and then get some of the blog done up, tomorrow we move on
will take a boat, mini van, bus and train and arrive in Bangkok on
the 27th at 10:AM. Have a sleeper on the train. The
train service here is very good and depending on which grade of
service you take can be a very cheap way to travel.
