March 13, 14, 2012.
Have decided that we will see Angkor
temples and the sunset there today, will take a tuk-tuk to the temples
as we are going to do the long circuit and then see the sun set over
Angkor Wat. The temples are amazing and today it is not very crowded
so we can have a good look around. To think these have stood for 7
or 8 hundred years, have be plundered and in some cases rebuild in
part. The history of the place is a lot to take in in one day. To
see the whole complex one should bet a three day pass. The sunset
was not all that spectacular but was well worth waiting to see. The
temples are now in some cases getting very decayed by are and weather
and there is a lot of work being done to preserve then but it will
take quite a few years to do this. This evening we have had dinner
at a local restaurant with Khmer food, very good.
14th. Up very early for ride
to the temples to see the sun rise over the temples, was very
spectacular. Then the morning again exploring the temples and home by
noon to do a bit of laundry, work on the computer and get emails.
This evening going to Pub Street to have dinner. Have been told of a
great restaurant with Khmer food and will give it a try. Food was
great. Tomorrow we leave early for Bangkok.
One would need more photos than this to do justice to the beauty of Angkor.
