March 2/3/4/5

Arrival was at 6 AM , only problem with early arrival is that you have to wait to book into your accommodations, but most places with take you luggage etc. until booking time.  Spent first day looking around the city and shopping for a good backpack.  Pick up so groceries at the markets and will cook dinner in. Have a kitchenette.

Day two.
Meeting Elicia downtown to take the train to the Blue Mountain town of Glenbrook to have lunch with Ross and his wife ( friend of Elicia's ). Train takes about an hour and a quarter. Has been raining and so could not get any photos from the train.  Had a great lunch at a small eatery and then it was time to return to the city.
Not knowing that the Mardi Gras was on this weekend it was hard to get a hotel booking so next time will check to see what activities are going at the time of my arrival.  The Mardi Gras parade was just a block from my accommodations and  started at 7:45PM but again it was raining and by the time I went out the crowd was six deep along the route.  So had a very limited view of the parade .
Enclosed photos are not mine.

Day three.
The train and bus system is very good and if you know where you want to go the information about all routes is very easy to obtain.  On Sunday you can get a Funday ticket that will let you ride the light rain, bus and ferry for $ 2.50 for the whole day.  If you want to see Sydney from the water this would be a great day to do it . Taking the ferry to Manley and then another up the river would give you the same as a harbor cruise and you could get off and have a stroll around before you return to the Quay.
So did a couple of train, bus and ferry trips today.  Must say the only way to see Sydney is from the water.
The time here has been very short but have managed to pack quite a few things in .

To really see the city of Sydney one would need an week and then would only see a fraction of the city.  Must do planning before you arrive to get the most out of your time here.
