Flight to Melbourne today. The rules for security are quite different for domestic flights here in Australia. Your friends can go through security and wait with you at the gate until your flight is ready to depart. You can take bottles of wine and other drinks on the flight with you in your carry on luggage and even are allowed to have a lighter. But as I found out you are not allowed to keep the little pair of pliers that fold down to a little square with you as they are considered a tool and that is not allowed. As I tried to explain to the security people the only damage they might be able to do is pinch some one, and that a lighter was far more dangerous as one could light things on fire in the plane or they could use a broken bottle as a weapon. My argument landed on deaf ears and although my little pair of pliers had gone through seven airport security checks and had been allowed, I now had to give them up. But will get then back as my friend has asked when she was departing the airport if she might get them and was given them and she will send them to me.
Melbourne is a lot warmer that Hobart and the sun is shinning.
Will post several parcels back to Canada, do not want to have to pay for over weight in my suitcase.
Postage is cheaper than paying for the excess weight charge.
